Nitrous oxide therapy
How does it work?
Nitrous oxide is an anesthetic gas that is breathed in over the lungs. It gives you a relaxed feeling and minimizes your sensitivity to pain. It is a very safe and effective method, used in dentistry and the medical field for over 160 years. It has already helped millions of people when it comes to managing their fear and anxiety of dental and medical treatments. In many countries it is the standard of treatment because it is so safe and easy to use. Patients treated with nitrous oxide often experience a warm, relaxed, dream-like state, but awake at all times. For anxious children and adults, nitrous oxide sedation is the key to a comfortable and relaxed treatment. Your dentist will mix the nitrous oxide gas together with oxygen, to a comfortable level that meets your personal needs. This will create a relaxing, positive environment for you as the patient within a few minutes of breathing in the mixed gases.

Is nitrous oxide safe?
Nitrous oxide, or N2O (Laughing Gas) has been successfully used for more than 160 years in dentistry. It is the safest and most studied sedative agents used in medicine today. It is safe, non-toxic and a gentle method for sedation, that leaves the body immediately after treatment. Compared to general anesthetic, the patient is always fully conscious and cooperative.
• You as the patient can decide how deep the sedation level will be.
• Absolutely no loss of control, you are always awake.
• Level of sedation can be increased, decreased, or even stopped
completely at any time.

Is nitrous oxide safe for my child?
Nitrous oxide is the safest and most efficient form of sedation. It reduces anxiousness in your child and creates a calm, safe and positive environment for treatment. In some cases, children need to be calmed down to be able to perform a successful treatment. Nitrous oxide can quickly and easily administered to children to perform such treatments.
